When discussing our vision for the Oprea of Candide, director Mikhaela Mahony was quite intrigued by a child's imagination. In our production we also separated the Voltaire character from Pangloss to create a child narrator that would lead us through the story. As our named characters became her paper dolls as they traveled the globe. This world is full of outrageously absurd characters and moments that we looked to heighten with a vaudevillian and Rococo flare.
